The "Guitar Master" has started his month long residency at his club, Buddy Guy Legends,  and I saw him in person there briefly back in July before the CrossRoads Guitar Festival and I can imagine what a full-fledged show would be like.

By far one of my favorite musicians, I have seen him on numerous occasions over the years and it still amazes how much energy he still haves for a legend of 72 years of age. Other than his club and CGF, I also saw him last year at HOB – Dallas and Gathering of the Vibes and the fans could not get enough.

There is a great article in the Chicago Tribune about the show as well as some pics. Glad to know he will be back in this neck in the woods in April back at HOB.  Sweet !!!!

I guess a lucky few in England got treated to very special NYE show with Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend and Joe Walsh among a few others to jam the night away.

  • NME – a basic story
  • In2Greece – a personal account of one of the blessed
  • B1027FM – bit more info as to the significance

And I thought I was fortunate to get a ticket to the CrossRoads Guitar Festival….

Update: Undercover has a set list along with the rest of the band members

If you can’t be sailing through the Caribbean on Jam Cruise 6 listening to the likes of Warren Haynes, Michael Franti, The Funky Meters and the rest of the lineup, then the folks at iClips.net have the next best thing with webcasts of the performances to enjoy from your La-Z-Boy at home.

Scheduled to start this Friday, Jan. 4th and going through the 9th, it is bound to be one hell of a floating music festival.  The broadcast schedules are not ready as of writing this but I will be updating as soon as they become available, so stay tuned.

If you have not signed up at iClips.net, head on over so you can view the webcast. It does not cost anything and asks for minimal information.

Update:  According to iClips.net, the performances will not be streamed live as they occur, but will be on-demand starting the afternoon of the 6th.  So a little background noise as you are watching the NFL playoffs…..

Happy New Year to all the readers!!!!

Well, 2007 passed by way too quickly but I was on the road for some great music and the MusicRoadMan plans to continue that tradition for 2008.

My schedule for 2008 will probably not be quite as congested as 2007, but still plan to hit a few old haunts as well as take in a few new ones along the way.  I certainly I am not going to put 4 weekends in a row in my itinerary as I did with the 10KLF Festival, Crossroads Festival, Telluride Jazz and Gathering of the Vibes this past year, but one stop a month is certainly manageable.

Stops that I have scheduled so far:

  • Langerado Music Festival -  I went to the 2006 version of this one, so with a change of venue to the Big Cypress Seminole Reservation and the kickass lineup, this is a great way to start off the season.
  • Jazzfest -  My annual trek back home to the Crescent City is on the agenda, but my decision to hit one of the weekends or take in both will depend on the artists that will probably be announced sometime next month.  Early confirmations are the return of the Neville Brothers, Tim McGraw and Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.
  • Telluride Jazz Festival  – With the move to the beginning of June, looks like I will be spending my birthday in the mountains listening to McCoy Tyner and Bettye LaVette amongst a host of others.
  • Telluride Blues Festival – Even though you have to buy the tickets the beginning of March with no knowledge of who will be playing in September, it does not matter because it will be a good time anyway..

Possible others include Mountain Jam in upstate New York, 10KLF in Minnesota, Austin City Limits down I-35 and Voodoo Fest back in New Orleans.  Of course, there will also be concerts here around the DFW area as well as anywhere else I might want to wander….

Where do you plan to go in 2008??? Feel free to leave comments.
