2008 Osheaga Music and Arts Festival – Aug 3-4 – Montreal, QC, Canada

So the Gathering of the Vibes or the Newport Folk Festival don’t excite you for the 1st weekend of August???  Then maybe you should head "North of the Border" to Montreal for the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival at the Parc Jean-Drapeau on the St. Lawrence River.

Now this fest is being held on a Sunday and Monday, which I found a bit odd.  So I did a Google Search and found that the 1st Monday of August is always Civic Holiday in Canada, their version of Labor Day for the States.  My education for the day….

The lineup is not bad in my opinion, and as usual, there are performers to be added later:

Sunday, August 3rd
  • The Killers
  • Iggy & the Stooges
  • Cat Power
  • Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings
  • DeVotchKa
  • Plants & Animals
  • The National Parcs
  • Louis XIV
  • Sébastien Tellier
  • Duchess Says
  • Chocolat
  • Turzi
  • Le Husky
  • The Tom Fun Orchestra
Monday, August 4th
  • Jack Johnson
  • Broken Social Scene
  • Duffy
  • Gogol Bordello
  • CSS
  • Chromeo
  • The Go! Team
  • The Black Keys
  • MGMT
  • Matt Costa
  • The Weakerthans
  • Jamie Lidell
  • Neil Halstead
  • Bonjour Brumaire
  • The Duke Spirit
  • Coeur de Pirate

Early Bird Tickets are being sold for $105 for the first 5000 tickets, then go on sale for $120 after the allocation is gone.  Daily tickets are on sale $67.50 and all tickets have those dreaded service charges.  Since the exchange rate for $US vs $CAD is almost 1:1, I guess difficult math calculations are not necessary.

In case you are wondering about the 2007 edition of Osheaga, there are several videos, photos and a blog to give you the lowdown….
