Voodoo Music Festival VIP Package Review & Photos – 2007

The VIP pass at the Voodoo Music Experience, which the organizers called the LOA Lounge Pass, cost $450 and here is what was included in the price.

  • VIP Main Area – The location was adjacent to the Voodoo Stage.  The area was quite large considering the amount of people with lots of tables to hang out with friends and enjoy a cool drink.  A few couches were placed under the tent along with a small stage for performers.  There were also servers that would bring your favorite concoctions to you while enjoying the music and great weather ( very nice).  Having the bathrooms handy was helpful due to long lines at the ones in the festival ground.

  • Food –  Food was catered by Dickie Brennan’s Restaurants and much to my surprise, food was not included in the price of the VIP pass . Prices were certainly below market what you would pay in a restaurant and was of high quality as food from any Brennan’s restaurant is expected to be.  My favorites were the BBQ Shrimp Po-Boy and the White Chocolate Bread Pudding and I gained a few pounds as I do everytime I return to the " Big Easy ".

  • Drinks -  You were given a wrist band with 3 drink tickets everyday as you walked into the VIP area which you could use for beer, mixed drinks, soft drinks or water at either of the two bars. The bars was well stocked and the servers were heavy handed with the pours….The way it should be.  Vodka and Cranberry was my weapon of choice for the weekend and it went well with the bread pudding.

  • Viewing of the Stage – A section of bleachers was placed at the entrance to the LOA Lounge and was about 35 yards away from the Voodoo Stage.  The Playstation Stage was located about 120 yards away at the other end of the field but both stages had huge video monitors to catch the action.  I spent very little time in the grandstand as I spent most of my time at the WWOZ stage where I could get front and center to take some closeup photos.

  • Extras – The Playstation folks had a small tent set up with several monitors available for the video addicted.  I guess nothing like listening to the Smashing Pumpkins while playing NBA 08.

  • Guitar Tent - The local Guitar Center had a variety of high end stringed wonders and had several of the musicians stop by during the festival for autograph sessions.

There was also a trailer selling festival merchandise which was convenient due to the 3-4 deep line at the tent in the festival grounds.  There was also two massage tables under a small tent with awaiting therapists that were busy everytime I ventured by.

I was satisfied with the VIP experience even though I did not spend a lot of time in the area other than to grab a drink and something to eat.  I would do it again, no problem.
