Gathering of the Vibes Schedule is released

The schedule for the Gathering of the Vibes Festival was put out last night and the lineup between the two main stages switches back and forth with no overlap…. Sweet!!!!

The action actually starts out bright and early Thursday, August 9^th with the gates opening at 8AM and music starting at noon on the Solar Beach Stage with local bands out of Connecticut. Action later in the day includes:

U-Melt
John Brown’s Body (a little reggae rhythm)
Dark Star Orchestra ( Tribute to Grateful Dead)

Friday highlights are:

George Clinton and P-Funk
Deep Banana Blackout (Tribute to James Brown)
Mickey Hart Band
Dickey Betts and Great Southern
Railroad Earth
Tea Leaf Green

Saturday by the water:

Bob Weir & Ratdog
Les Claypool
Keller & The Keels
Assembly of Dust
Donna Jean & The Tricksters

Closing out Sunday:

Los Lobos
Buddy Guy (bow to the Guitar God)
The Wailers (ahhh, yes, a little more reggae, man!!)
Martin Sexton
Dirty Dozen Brass Band ( got to have a little New Orleans action)

Only thing that sucks is that you have to be packed up and gone Sunday night, which means I will probably be napping at one of the fine New York area airports waiting for my flight Monday morning….Oh well, one of the tough sacrifices I make for the enjoyment of good music….. No, I don’t need a tissue….
