Voodoo Music Experience Linup Announced - New Orleans

The lineup for the Voodoo Music Experience back in my old hometown was released on Thursday and even expanded to three days this year (October 26-28) and over 110 acts, they have come up with a formidable collection of musicians.

I have never been to the Voodoo Fest as some call it, but this year I will have to make the jaunt to enjoy a little Halloween festivities along with some great tunes and food. Nothing like sitting in a bar on Bourbon Street on Halloween night watching the cast of characters walk by dressed up in their finest….or worst.

This year’s edition has three stages set up, each with their own flavor of music. The Le Ritual has a couple of reunion shows that will certainly make it the most popular.

  • Rage Against The Machine
  • Smashing Pumpkins
  • Wilco
  • Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals
  • Kings of Leon
  • Paolo Nutini ( will pal Amy Winehouse show up???)
  • Galactic
Why isn’t Fred LeBlanc and Cowboy Mouth on this list????????????

The Le Flambeau stage will have more of a Southern feel with a bit of reggae thrown in.
  • Dr. John
  • Toots and the Maytals
  • JJ Grey and Mofro
  • Toubab Krewe
  • New Orleans Social Club
  • Marc Broussard
  • Porter-Batiste-Stoltz
  • Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk
  • Bonerama
The Le Carnival will have up and coming acts and have a few that I have been wanting to catch.
  • Ghostland Observatory
  • New Orleans Bingo! Show
  • Quintron and Miss Pussycat
  • Morning 40 Federation
  • Fleur De Tease Burlesque
  • Dax Riggs

Tickets go on sale June 29th in limited number for $100 and I am sure those will go fast and price will increase as festival gets closer.

VIP tickets go on sale July 20th for $450 and includes the following:
  • Grandstand Viewing (not sure how close to stage)
  • Private entrance, parking and bathrooms
  • Full Bar (my aching head)
  • Food provided by Dickie Brennan Restaurants (great choice)
  • Gift bag with schwag
Not sure that Vegoose Festival can compete with this lineup, therefore you find me in New Orleans at the end of October. I will be flipping lots of quarters like at Jazzfest to determine who I will see. So much music….So little time…….

I would suggest making hotel reservations now if you an inkling that you might go, Halloween is busy in New Orleans without the Voodoo Fest.
