Opentable.com Restaurant Reservation Booking Overview
Opentable.com is an online booking reservation service that restaurants use to save time and be more efficient is serving their customers. I have used Opentable.com many, many times to book reservations at restaurants in the DFW area where I live as well as other cities I travel. All of the bigger cities are broken down by area of the city, including suburbs, which was very helpful for a guy like me traveling in New York City recently.
In order to book reservations, you have to fill out a profile which consists of your email, password, telephone number and the primary city where you would book reservations and it does not cost a thing. After that, you can pick the city or just specific regions in the city, pick your desired time and it will give you list of establishments that fit in that time frame with a 1/2 hour either earlier or later as well as the type of cuisine. If there is no reservation available, it will give you the closest time it is available. Then it is easy to go through the profiles to get the Gayot rating or other awards, links to the restaurant web site and menu and dress code ( most important for me since I like to travel light). It also sends you a reminder by email a day before the date which is great for a schedule resistant person like myself. Here is a page for my favorite place to eat in Dallas, Abacus. All the pertinent info in one place, beats having to do a search on Google. Happy Eating!!
